A boarding school proposal for Burundi: adobe walls, a timber frame, stone foundations and a metal roof, with rainwater tanks and solar panels.

The school is built from local, readily available materials: 40 cm adobe walls on a stone foundation and raised plinth, a timber frame and a corrugated metal roof. Solar panels and rainwater tanks help meet its energy and water needs. The programme includes classrooms, dormitories, a staff room, an office, a security post, a kitchen with tandoor ovens, toilets and showers; perforated adobe screen walls admit filtered light.
