A mountain and village house for a family in Sinop: stone walls in keeping with local buildings, modern balconies upstairs and a cantilevered glass terrace reaching towards the best of the view.

SS House was designed around a single family and its needs. It brings traditional and modern architecture together: stone walls that sit comfortably alongside local buildings, and contemporary balcony extensions on the upper floor.

The ground floor is arranged for two siblings, the upper floor for the family's elders and their guests. Upstairs, the core sits at the centre, with corridors on either side leading to rooms planned for privacy. A single kitchen serves both living rooms, so two groups can be received in separate rooms without seeing one another.

A cantilevered glass viewing terrace projects from the upper floor towards the finest part of the landscape. Windows follow traditional proportions and are centred on the building's axes. In the back garden, a steel pergola and swing take a modern approach while keeping the traditional pergola form and roof shape.
